Beams of light

After looking at space as a whole and its blackness, and how we are tiny dots in this world. I started looking at shapes and the space between them. In the darkness we always try to find the light, although I think of being empty and black, I do like to think there is something more out there. Rachel Whiteread started to come into my mind, she takes basic shapes and images and creates a unique space between them.


In this picture here we see a dark room and beams of light which she introduced into the picture. It enlightens me to think there is a light at the end of the tunnel and maybe we are not just nothing, maybe we are something? The spaces between the circles are just perfect and beautiful, and it shows us how light really transforms a picture. Playing on the word space again, these circles are in a very odd space. But maybe that is the beauty of the image, and it works for me.
